Inspiring Makeup From Vogue Nippon
LOVING this editorial in the newest Vogue Nippon!! One of my biggest pet peeves is when avant garde makeup looks sloppy and distracts from the whole picture. This is a gorgeous example of extreme makeup done right!! It still tasteful and fashionable, and I love the subtle changes in each picture. I’m also really into braids right now, and these braids are to die for. These pics are definitely going into my inspiration folder
Enjoy!!

What is Your Desert Island Beauty Product?
Everyone is freaking out about the season finale of LOST tonight, which inspired the question:
If you were stranded on a desert island, and could only choose 1 beauty product to have with you, what would it be??
FYI: The island already has sunscreen, toothpaste, and deodorant so don’t worry about “essentials.” It also has 1 outlet because I know some of you can’t live without your hot tools.

Happy Easter!

.
Rabbit ears have been popping up all over magazines and celebrities (remember Madonna’s teal pair at last year’s MET?), ever since Marc Jacobs designed a pair for Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2009 runway. Well, there’s only one day a year that this trend can actually be relevant (unless you live at the Playboy Mansion), and that day is today!
Happy Easter!!

Give The Earth Some Beauty Sleep

Let’s face it, she’s suffering from some serious dark circles!
Sleep is one of the only activities every human being on Earth has in common. Whether you strive for only 4 hours a night, or 8, we all need it and it’s imperative to our health and well-being. Harvard Medical School states that sleep deprivation can alter our immune system and make us more susceptible to disease, cardiovascular problems, irritability, moodiness, and weight gain. In our houses, we dedicate entire rooms to our beds, and spend thousands of dollars on pillows, bedding and mattresses in order to assure we are as comfortable as comfortable as possible when we lay our heads down at night.
.
Tonight marks the second annual Earth Hour, a national movement to save energy and send a clear message that we can work together to preserve our planet. Since we place such extreme importance on sleep in our own lives, we already understand how essential it is to give our Earth some much needed beauty sleep.
.
..
Last year, almost 1 billion people turned out the light! Here are some iconic landmarks that will be participating:
- Empire State Building
- Brooklyn Bridge
- Broadway Theater Marquees
- Las Vegas Strip
- United Nations Headquarters
- Golden Gate Bridge
- Seattle’s Space Needle
- Church of Latter-Day Saints Temple
- Gateway Arch in St. Louis
- Great Pyramids of Giza
- Acropolis and Parthenon in Athens
- Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro
- St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City
- Big Ben and Houses of Parliament in London
- Elysee Palace and Eiffel Tower in Paris
- Beijing’s Birds Nest and Water Cube
- Symphony of Lights in Hong Kong
- Sydney’s Opera House
.
The National Sleep Foundation estimates that the average adult needs between 7-9 hours a night. The Earth is only asking for one hour!!!
Tonight, March 27th at 8:30pm, turn off all of your lights for 1 hour!

Our Perception of Beauty
Perfection = A Big Fat Illusion!
I came across this video about a year ago. It is a one minute, realistic look into how we are falsely led into believing that the models and celebrities gracing the pages of our favorite magazines are “perfect.” I cannot count the number of times someone on set has said “oh, we’ll just fix it in photoshop!” While I love my job with a passion, what we are seeing is not reality, it’s a beautiful illusion that I wish more people were aware of.
